AUSTRALIA’S music superstar has been named the most popular female athlete in the world according to an analysis of top 100 sports articles from the International Olympic Committee.
According to the official IOC website, Australian singer-songwriter-actress Anna Maria Tremonti is the most influential female athlete, ahead of Australian golfer Martina Navratilova, US swimmer Hannah Polizzi, Brazilian boxer Catarina Sampaio, Russian gymnast Maria Sharapova and French athlete Carla Suarez.
Anna Maria Tremondi was born on the morning of March 3, 1962 in Melbourne’s inner west and is best known for her hit song “La Vida Loca”, which has become a worldwide anthem of resistance and solidarity.
It’s a title that has been echoed in the music world, with pop superstar Katy Perry becoming the first female artist to have an album number one in the UK in 2014, while Australian pop star Adele was the first British artist to win a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2013.
But what really sets Anna Maria apart from the pack is her role in the songwriting process.
The music industry is still predominantly male dominated and the music industry has been criticised for not including more female artists in its ranks, but Anna Maria says that’s changing.
She’s proud of her accomplishments in songwriting and her ability to create music that is both uplifting and accessible to women, and that’s what she wants to continue to do.
“There are women artists out there that are doing that and I’m proud of that,” Anna Maria said.
But is Anna Maria a superstar in her own right?”
I feel like it’s a good time for me to be a female artist, and I don’t want to be the last one.”
But is Anna Maria a superstar in her own right?
It all depends on who you ask.
“If you ask a lot of women who are playing in the top 100, like Martina and Anna Maria, they will probably tell you they are just superstars,” Anna Marie said.
She said the reason why Anna Maria has such a huge following was down to her success in her chosen field, and her role as a songwriter.
“The reason why I’m a pop singer is because I’ve always loved pop music,” Anna M said.
“It’s such an iconic genre.”
It’s like a genre where women can do anything.
“A lot of girls are trying to be superstars and I think that’s a really good thing.”
You can’t do that if you’re a boy or a girl.
“The results of the study are expected to be released in early April, and Anna M says it’s just the beginning of what’s to come.”
We have this big announcement coming up, and it’s gonna be really interesting.
“What I think is really exciting is that Anna Maria is a girl and she’s a pop artist and she has a big fan base,” she said.
