article MLB is not giving Andrew Miller his $100,000 bonus.
Article Posted July 16, 2018 9:06:18This week, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred announced that Andrew Miller, who was a third baseman for the Nationals, will not get paid this week for the third straight week.
Manfred said the bonus was due to a rule that prohibits players from signing long-term contracts during the regular season.
He said he was unaware that Miller was going to sign long-time deals during the season, but did say the bonus will not be paid.
Miller had a strong season in 2017, hitting .282/.338/.455 in a career-high 164 games, hitting 20 home runs and driving in 66 runs.
He was named to the All-Star Game and was named MVP.
Miller had one of the best seasons in franchise history, and he was the Nationals’ all-time leader in home runs.
Miller will not receive any bonus for the remaining 10 games of the regular schedule, which will start on Thursday.
